On the Third Day of Christmas
We had a get-together with mainly our church friends, family, Trader Joe's crew and Ted's close friends from decades past. Cadence was SO EXCITED to have a few of her little friends come over. Here is a little impromptu band with Fischer (channeling Jimi Hendrix) and Ada.
And here are Cadence and Ada with Rudden seranading them on the accordian. They played ball and paraded and marched and ran and giggled and had all kinds of fun.
We had shrimp ceviche which I partially made (meaning I started it and lost patience w/ the dicing so Ted had to take over), Ted's famous veggie chili, Trader Joe's Chimichurri Rice (we threw like 3 bags worth into a crock pot) and of course Ted's famous homebrew which was on tap in his partially finished kegerator. Our friends brought all kinds of yummy stuff, like the amazing squash/potato/apple soup that Matt made, or Amy's saltine chocolate toffee cookies, not to mention Ted's grandma's tray of Christmas cookies and baklava. Right now, I'm enjoying our friend Jenn's amazing pumpkin bread with some much needed coffee.
It's always good to hang out with friends, as chaotic as our parties can get. Every year we do this, I remember the first party of this kind when Ted and I weren't yet dating. That's when I met his good friends Johnny and Phil and Jozka. That was six years ago. And here is Ted with Johnny now, both of them looking a bit more seasoned with their matching beards.
We didn't get to bed until 2:30, and Cadence preceded us only by about an hour, so we all slept in today until 10:30, and now I've got a headache (possibly a framboise hangover). Cadence has been helping herself to YiaYia's cookie platter, and I'm hoping she gets sick of cookies by supper time so she'll eat some real food later on.
My whole body hurts...
